A reading room, not a broker.
An independent editorial project — a field guide to the universities of London, written for the curious and the prospective alike.
University.london is a non-commercial field guide to the city's thirty-six universities and colleges — their histories, their neighbourhoods, their rituals and their characters. It is written in the guide's own hand: editorial, a little fond, and careful with the facts.
The guide covers the chartered ancients and the civic moderns, the art schools and the conservatoires. Each house has a profile, a set of field notes, and a door to its official site. Around the directory sit seven reading lists by discipline, six walks by district, three collections by tradition, and a small set of instruments — a budget tool, an academic calendar, and a hand-drawn map that is honest about not being to scale.
Method & sources. Student numbers and Nobel affiliate counts are indicative, drawn from the most recent published HESA returns and institutional reports; Nobel figures include alumni, faculty and long-term researchers. Live summaries on institution pages are drawn from Wikipedia via its public REST API and reused under CC BY-SA. Everything else is the guide's own editorial work.
Independence. This project is not affiliated with, endorsed by, or representative of the University of London (the federal university), its central administration, or any of its constituent member institutions — nor of any other university in these pages. Institutional names are used descriptively, with links provided to each official site. All trademarks and names belong to their respective owners. No advertising, affiliate links or sponsored placements appear anywhere on the site.
